PAYDAY PLANNER · FREE WORKING PREVIEW

Fortnightly pay. Monthly bills. One clear plan.

See when cash could run low between paydays. Put weekly, fortnightly and monthly payments on one 13-week calendar, then try your own numbers.

13 weeks · Australian dollars · No account or bank connection

Dates matter as much as totals.

A weekly budget can look fine while one day runs short. This preview shows end-of-day balances and a separate low point if bills leave before pay on the same day.

Enter take-home amounts. No tax, interest, fees or bank-holiday adjustments are calculated.

A FIXED, REPRODUCIBLE EXAMPLE · AUD

A positive finish can hide a shortfall before payday.

The sample starts with $3,200.00. Now keep every payment the same and start with only $400.00 on 5 Oct 2026. Before the first fortnightly pay arrives, three expenses have already left.

Follow the first payments in this fixed example (AUD)
DateWhat happensEnd-of-day balance
5 Oct 2026Housing: −$650.00-$250.00
7 Oct 2026Groceries: −$180.00-$430.00
8 Oct 2026Transport: −$95.00-$525.00
9 Oct 2026Fortnightly pay: +$3,500.00$2,975.00

The lowest end-of-day balance is -$525.00 on 8 Oct 2026. Yet the same entries finish the 13 weeks at $15,885.00. Money arriving later cannot cover a payment that left earlier. The negative figure is an arithmetic shortfall, not an available overdraft.

These are deliberately limited, hypothetical entries, not a typical household budget. Unlisted expenses, tax, interest and fees are excluded. This example stays fixed when you edit your own plan above.

Over 91 days, seven fortnightly pays and three monthly pays total $28,700.00. The listed bills total $13,215.00. Starting cash + money in − money out = $15,885.00. The exact calendar, not a monthly average, determines those payment counts.

Fortnightly pay is not twice a month

Every fortnight means every 14 days. It does not mean the 1st and 15th. Enter one known payday and let the planner generate its actual dates. If your employer pays twice monthly, enter two monthly schedules instead.

Keep monthly bills monthly

Do not turn a monthly bill into a four-week payment. Twelve calendar months and thirteen four-week blocks are different schedules. Enter the bill amount and its due date once, then choose Monthly. Use a separate one-off entry for an annual bill within your 13 weeks.

Read both low points

End-of-day balance combines that day's income and bills. “Low if bills leave first” checks a more cautious order. Neither predicts your bank's posting order. Review real payment dates, including weekends and public holidays, before relying on a plan.

Include spending between bills

Groceries, transport and smaller purchases use cash too. If you pay a credit-card statement from this account, avoid also counting the same purchases as cash leaving this account. Include the payments and transfers that actually reduce the balance you are modelling.

What the preview assumes.

  • Dates and amounts are supplied by you. It does not connect to a bank or verify an expected payment.
  • Weekly means every 7 days; fortnightly means every 14 days. Monthly payments keep their original day, or use the month's last day when that day does not exist. A 31 January anchor becomes 28/29 February, then 31 March.
  • Weekends and public holidays do not shift payments. Enter separate one-off dates when actual timing differs.
  • Amounts stay constant on a recurring schedule. For variable pay, add separate one-off entries or edit and recalculate.
  • No interest, tax, grants, inflation or fees are added. A positive result does not establish affordability or guarantee that bills will clear.
