Why this site exists
A large future balance can hide how much you need to contribute. An attractive bank rate can hide a condition. A lower loan balance does not tell you how much interest you have saved. Howloop makes those parts visible so you can ask better questions about your next step.
The site combines practical tools with explanations you can read before and after using them. It is built around Australian dollars, Australian sources and ordinary planning questions.
The person behind Howloop
Howloop is an independent project created by a finance graduate living in Australia. The idea came from managing everyday money decisions here: understanding savings rates, planning a home purchase and making sense of unfamiliar financial terms.
The aim is simple: help someone understand a money question, try an example and know what to check next. A finance degree and personal experience are part of that background, not a financial-adviser or tax-agent registration. Howloop does not claim those professional qualifications.
The founder is responsible for the website, its published explanations and corrections. You can reach the operator directly at [email protected]. The public source notes and calculation methods let you check the work rather than rely on a personal financial success story.
AI tools assist with drafting, code and mathematical checks. No independent review by a licensed financial adviser is claimed. A publication date, source-check date or passing software test is not a professional endorsement. The editorial policy explains these distinctions.
What makes the tools useful
- Show the parts. Savings results separate deposits and interest. Mortgage results compare a baseline with your offset and extra repayments.
- Show the assumptions. We publish formulas, timing conventions and exclusions alongside examples.
- Show the source. Bank data has a retrieval date and links back to public provider information. A listing is not a recommendation.
- Let you try again. Change an input, compare a result and save a plan on your own device if you choose.
Our role and limits
Howloop is not a bank, lender, broker or personal financial-advice service. We do not arrange products, assess your eligibility or connect to your accounts. We cannot determine what is suitable for your circumstances. For a decision that needs personal advice, consult an appropriately qualified professional.
Funding and independence
The current money tools are free, with no account registration, paid rankings or affiliate product links. Advertising may support the site in future. Commercial placements would need to be labelled and kept separate from calculations and editorial explanations. Provider order in the bank explorer is alphabetical.
Corrections and accountability
Use the contact page to report a problem, with a page address and a sample calculation or official source. Material changes are recorded in updates and corrections and the affected guide. You can also inspect the calculation methods and privacy policy.
Our earlier everyday guides
Howloop previously published household and everyday how-to guides. Those pages remain in a clearly labelled archive at their original addresses. The current library and navigation focus on Australian money education.
